Needleless Mesotherapy

The History of Traditional Mesotherapy

Here at Sunseekers Tanning Salon & WellSpa we use Needleless Mesotherapy with Organic and 100% Vegan serums which is a holistic, less aggressive and painless form of Traditional Mesotherapy. We want to illustrate the importance of this treatment and its evolution by delineating its history below.

Traditional Mesotherapy  is a technique, invented in 1952 by Dr. Michel Pistor, where medication is injected into the mesoderm, the layer of fat and connective tissue under the skin. Over the past 50+ years, in excess of 25,000 physicians worldwide have used Mesotherapy regularly for a variety of purposes, including overall weight loss, spot weight reduction, cellulite reduction, hair loss, scar revision and wrinkle elimination.

In 1987, the French Academy of Medicine recognized Mesotherapy as an inherent part of traditional medicine. The International Society of Mesotherapy encompasses 14 countries throughout Europe and South America.

Mesotherapy is a technique using very small doses of compounded medications that are administered in specific areas, depending on the condition being treated. The medicines and plant extracts used are typically obtained from compounding pharmacies in most countries, although Europe mass manufactures many products that are prohibited for import into most other countries.

All medicines used are FDA-approved for their use. In combination, medicines for Mesotherapy are used for off-label purposes. A recent illustration of this distinction is Botox. Although Botox was FDA approved for controlling muscle spasms, the medical community embraced it for its cosmetic properties of controlling wrinkles. For many years, plastic surgeons and dermatologists used Botox for off-label purposes.

What is Traditional Mesotherapy?

Traditional Mesotherapy is a series of injections formulated from a cocktail of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and homeopathic remedies which are injected into the skin between the dermis and subquetaneous layers of skin known as the mesoderm.

Needleless Mesotherapy for Anti-Aging

This treatment is used for stimulating the function of fibroblasts (collagen cells) for improved skin tone and wrinkle reduction, stimulating microcirculation for reduced water retention, improved cell nourishment and detoxification, while exerting an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory action for more youthful and healthy skin and an anti-aging effect.

Needleless Mesotherapy aims to replace minerals, vitamins and amino acids that are found in lower levels in skin as we age. It is also used to boost levels of hyaluronic acid, another important component of the skin that helps to maintain firmness and texture, levels of which decrease as skin ages. Experts say that injecting more hyaluronic acid just below the surface of the skin helps to stimulate more collagen production, which, in turn, improves skin tone and helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

What is Cellulite?

To understand why our treatment is so popular and necessary, approximately 80-90% of all women have some degree of cellulite. Sadly, diet and exercise alone rarely clear the condition. Cellulite can be loosely defined as the dimpled or bumpy contour that the skin assumes because of irregular distribution of fat beneath the skin surface.

Why Why Why??

Fat globules are divided by cords that run from the lower part of the skin through the fat layer and mesh into the upper layer of the muscle. It is believed over time that the cords (blood vessels and collagen) shorten and compromise blood flow. The enlargement of fat globules between the cords contributes to reducing inflow of the blood and outflow of lymph. This accumulation of fluid puts further pressure on the tissue and creates a vicious cycle of injury.

Cellulite is a result of bad circulation, increased tissue acidity, bad lymphatic drainage and a weakened support structure of the dermis and epidermis i.e. firmness. Part of our Needleless Mesotherapy treatment will stimulate the enhancement cell permeability which will allow our Vitamin, Mineral and Antioxidant Serums to penetrate more efficiently. This will result in improved muscle toning and better lymphatic drainage.

What can you expect?

Each treatment session lasts about 45 minutes, and clients should plan on doing 8-10 treatments to achieve the best results. Results vary however a client may see improvement in as little as 3-4 sessions. The treatment itself is yields no pain or discomfort. Clients can return to normal activity immediately after treatment with no downtime. In the first phase of the treatment series, patients should schedule four visits over the first 14 days to kick start the repair process.
